The Lacombe Museum is bringing back our Heritage Workshop Series! The heritage workshop series aims to arm the public with the information and resources required to critically think about heritage in their personal endeavors.
Caring for Your Personal Collections will explore the special considerations and available resources that will ensure your personal collections whether they contain photos, VHS tapes, china or textiles endure the test of time. The presentation in this workshop will cover topics like the agents of deterioration, proper storage materials, potential hazardous items to give special consideration to, and digitizing archival materials.
The information presented in this workshop will be beneficial for caretakers of family heirlooms, family historians, and antique aficionados.
Participants are encouraged to bring an item (or a photo of an item) that may require extra care considerations for the group to create a solution for.
This workshop will be very similar to one that was provided in 2024. Some updates will be provided including information on hazardous materials.
Please RSVP to this workshop via [email protected] or 403-782-3933.
The recommended minimum donation for attending heritage workshops is $5/person.
After-hours access to the Flatiron Building Museum can be found on 49c Avenue on the south side of the building.
The Lacombe Museum is always happy to help community members with digitization or to provide assistance in finding resources to help maintain precious items in your care! Contact [email protected] for more information.
