Located in Lacombe County, 19 kilometres east of Red Deer, the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site is Alberta’s first ethylene production facility.

Peter Lougheed’s decision in 1975 to transform the Alberta Gas Trunk Line, a small prairie pipeline company, into a leader in petrochemicals was the foundation that led to the subsequent development and production of the initial plant and subsequent developments near Joffre, Alberta.

Celebrate 50 years of growth and development at the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site in this exhibit that the Lacombe Museum has worked directly with NOVA staff to develop.
