Are you passionate about heritage and the preservation of Lacombe’s local history? Give back to your community with our unique volunteer positions!
Our Volunteer Teams work in many areas of the Museum. They prioritize our visitors’ experience, engage people from around the world in conversation, assist with fundraising activities, and foster learning through the Museum’s collection. Our volunteers are essential to the Museum’s organizational culture. Volunteers give their time and talent to help create an inclusive, innovative and passionate environment. Volunteer benefits include joining a nurturing and positive community, developing relationships with people with shared interests, and annual appreciation events hosted by the Museum.
Volunteer roles are ideal for someone looking for flexible additional hours to fit around part-time jobs/childcare, or a student looking for weekend opportunities.
FOH Volunteers support us by facilitating School Visits and Group Tour programming for school groups, organizations, private bookings, and special events. FOH Volunteers play a critical role in shaping a visitor’s experience and vary in roles from the front desk; blacksmithing &/or fibre heritage demos; gallery guides; or operating our market booths. FOH Volunteers must submit a valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
Join one of our planning committees to help us keep history alive! Assist with planning and facilitating our unique community events like the Annual Lacombe Museum Harvest Dinner; Blacksmith Hammer-In Festival; and more!
Gardening Volunteers help maintain the Heritage Learning Garden & the Allan D. Calkins Memorial Garden through the growing seasons (April-October). From the annual planting to watering and weeding, hours are flexible to work within your schedule.
CA Volunteers work within our permanent collection on research, conservation, documentation, storage of artifacts, and development/maintenance of exhibits. They help with the arrangement and maintenance of the Museum’s Collection and Archives. CA Volunteers assist with conducting research for genealogy requests, museum exhibits, special events, social media posts, and more.
