Our heritage walking tours are offered on a drop-in, by-donation basis one day per week in the summer but can also be booked for private groups year-round. The Lacombe Museum offers five walking tours covering different aspects of Lacombe’s history. Heritage Walking Tours are great for school groups, professional development activities, family reunions, and more.

Each tour route involves approximately 1km of walking and takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Heritage Walking Tours meet at the Michener House Museum. Tour guides wear audio headsets to ensure visitors can hear their narrative.

This tour covers the history of Lacombe’s Edwardian buildings in the downtown core.

Learn about the early settlement of Lacombe via the downtown murals that are based on archival photos from the Lacombe Museum collection.

This tour views the history of downtown through intrigues and scandals related to historic figures of Lacombe. Some stories on this tour may not be suitable for children.

Heritage Houses can be offered as two different routes that allow guests to learn about the houses in the oldest neighbourhoods in Lacombe.

Booking Tours

Walking tours can be booked year-round but are subject to the availability of tour guides.

20 people maximum can be accommodated per tour.

Bookings must be made a minimum of 2 weeks in advance.

Tours are subject to weather and will be cancelled in the case of extreme weather conditions.

The Lacombe Museum does accommodate bus tours for the Historic Murals tour. Buses/vans must be arranged by the booking group.

Fees: Group bookings are charged at $3.50 per person.
