Heritage Workshop: Heritage and Rural Properties

September 19 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm MDT

The Lacombe Museum is bringing back our Heritage Workshop Series! The heritage workshop series aims to arm the public with the information and resources required to critically think about heritage in their personal endeavors.

Heritage and Rural Properties will discuss what rural property owners can do about heritage features located on their properties. The presentation in this workshop will discuss different types of heritage features, the importance of recording as much information as possible about heritage features, how to research your property, options for reporting archaeological or paleontological finds, and the Lacombe Museum Rural Heritage Reporting program.

The resources discussed will be useful for those interested in rural history, and those who own or know someone who owns property in Lacombe County which contains heritage features. Features can include anything from heritage houses and barns to old trails, or bison harvesting areas.

Participants are encouraged to bring photographs and information about heritage features on their property if they want to complete a Rural Heritage Report in the workshop, or can bring a research question concerning their property.

Please RSVP to this workshop via [email protected] or 403-782-3933.

The recommended minimum donation for attending heritage workshops is $5/person.

After-hours access to the Flatiron Building Museum can be found on 49c Avenue on the south side of the building.

The Lacombe Museum accepts completed Rural Heritage Reports year-round. Lacombe Museum staff can aid in researching historical information about rural properties and can help connect property owners with Indigenous, archaeological, or paleontological resources for reporting or identification purposes. Contact [email protected] or 403-782-3933.
