Starting in 2024 the Lacombe Blacksmith Shop Museum will be hosting Forging Fridays on the last Friday of the month during our open season.
Forging Fridays are a day to show off your projects, socialize, and learn more about heritage blacksmithing in our 1902 shop. No experience in blacksmithing is necessary! We want to create a space that allows people of all interests and skill levels to get together to share. From those that curious about the metal arts, to re-enactors, and full-time blacksmiths Forging Fridays are for you!
RSVPing is encouraged but not necessary – please RSVP if you would like to blacksmith on a Forging Friday. Use of Lacombe Museum equipment requires applying to be a Lacombe Museum volunteer. Weather permitting space for a maximum of two portable forges is available in the garden at the shop. Please note that those blacksmithing at the Lacombe Blacksmith Shop Museum must be at least 16 years of age.
**Please check closer to the start of Forging Fridays to confirm the time of the event
The Lacombe Blacksmith Shop Museum is a SIBling with the Society of Inclusive Blacksmiths and we encourage anyone interested in being a part of the Blacksmith Shop Museum to learn more about the society! For us being a SIBling means fostering a love of blacksmithing in all members of our community and providing a supportive environment for people who may be underrepresented in the history of blacksmithing to learn the art.
