The Lacombe Museum is bringing back our Heritage Workshop Series! The heritage workshop series aims to arm the public with the information and resources required to critically think about heritage in their personal endeavors.
Archives and Personal Research is aimed at genealogists, amateur historians, or anyone who has ever wondered “but how do I learn more?”. The presentation in this workshop will cover what archival material is housed where, how to access archival information, and general guidelines to follow when visiting an archival reading room. Materials housed in the Lacombe Museum Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room and the Lacombe Museum Archival Collection will be discussed.
The resources discussed will be useful for those conducting family history research, research about homesteads/land, or local history research.
Participants are encouraged to bring a research query or roadblock to discuss within the workshop.
This workshop will be very similar to one that was provided in 2024. Some updates will be provided.
Please RSVP to this workshop via [email protected] or 403-782-3933.
The recommended minimum donation for attending heritage workshops is $5/person.
Afterhours access to the Flatiron Building Museum can be found on 49c Avenue on the south side of the building.
Researchers are also encouraged to attend our Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room monthly drop-in or to send larger research requests to [email protected]
