The Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room is available to the public by appointment only. Please contact [email protected] or 403-782-3933 to set up an appointment in the research room. When inquiring about use of the Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room please include information about the topic that you are researching and the materials that you are interested in accessing.

What is available in the Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room:

  • bound copies of the Lacombe Globe 1935-2012
  • local history books covering Central Alberta
  • reference library books covering a wide range of Alberta history topics
  • reference files on local buildings, families, and historic topics
  • the Lacombe Museum photo collection

Archival materials can also be reviewed by request. Please note that if a digital version of an archival material is available, the original will not be available in the Research Room. Our archival collection contains a variety of records pertaining to Lacombe and Lacombe County groups, societies, associations, and schools. Records can include minute books, financial records, membership records, and more. Viewing of archival materials may require a staff member to be present in the Research Room for the duration of your visit. Please be aware that some archival materials may be housed in other archival institutions and may not be available at the Lacombe Museum.
