Discover Lacombe’s History with our Spooky Sidewalk Stories.

First, allow us to set the stage:

T’was a dark and stormy night, in the small settlement of Lacombe. The year was 1906 and the hour was late… You find yourself hurrying along the creaky wooden boardwalks that lined the otherwise bumpy dirt roads of the town’s main streets, the opposite direction of the quickly panicking crowd. It seems as though all 100 residents have gathered. The faint whiff of chemicals and smoke floated off your jacket, hinting at where you had come from… You slip between two buildings, and into the dark as the sounds of the cries and yells of those clustered together get lost in the roar of a fire that would shake the very foundations of the town, setting it on a path that would define the community for centuries to come. 

Tours are run by Lacombe & District Historical Society staff and volunteers and tickets are on a Pay What You Can/By-Donation basis.

Event Timeline:

5:00 PM MST – harvest photo booth station at Michener House Museum & Gardens opens

5:30 PM MST – meet at the Michener House Museum & Gardens for Spooky Sidewalk Stories tour 1 with our heritage guides.

6:00 PM MST – tour ends in downtown

7:30 PM MST – meet at the Michener House Museum & Gardens for Spooky Sidewalk Stories tour 2 with our heritage guides.

8:00 PM MST – tour ends in downtown

8:00 PM MST – event wrap up

Admission is free, or with a food bank donation
