Artists Proposals

For Our Artists

As a community-based museum, we strive to host at least one art-focused group exhibit per year inside the Flatiron Building Museum gallery space, and other community projects at the Heritage Sites (Michener House Museum & Blacksmith Shop Museum).
Exhibit Proposals and Artist Submissions to our space make showcasing art accessible for both emerging and established local artists, so please consider submitting a proposal today!

Artists Proposal FAQ

Thank you for your interest in submitting an Artist Proposal to the Lacombe Museum! It is important to note that there is no application form provided, but rather a set of Guidelines to support your Submission process.
Please find the Submission Guidelines, a helpful Checklist, the Floor Plan of the Flatiron Building Museum Gallery, and the upcoming Artist Themes in the sections below.

Please reach out to Melissa Blunden at [email protected] with any questions.

The 2024 Theme is Stories. Artists are asked to create or submit already finished pieces to the Lacombe Museum that reflect the theme. The beauty of this theme is how open to a wide range of interpretations it is. We welcome all submissions for the 2024 theme until Dec 31, 2023.

The 2023 Theme was Repurpose. Artists are asked to create or submit already finished pieces to the Lacombe Museum that reflect the theme. This could be anything from utilizing mixed media into a single piece to self-portraiture and anything in between. We welcome all submissions for the 2023 theme until Dec 31, 2022.

Submission Guidelines for the Lacombe Museum and a helpful Checklist can be found here. If you need a copy emailed to you or printed out for you, please reach out to Melissa Blunden at [email protected]

Artist Submissions at Lacombe Museum

Welcome to Lacombe Museum’s Artist Submissions portal, where we invite artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to propose their works for our upcoming “Stories” Community Exhibition. At LDHS, we take pride in championing a diverse array of artistic expressions and cordially invite submissions from artists working in any medium. Our commitment to showcasing both seasoned and emerging local talent is a fundamental pillar of our mission as a community museum focused on cultures of yesterday and today.

Submission Process: All proposals undergo an evaluation process by our Exhibit Committee. If your work resonates with our mission, we will work collaboratively with you to schedule an exhibition that aligns with our gallery’s exhibit calendar. To ensure that your submission aligns with our expectations, please download the Artist Submission and Checklist for a comprehensive guide on our submission process (linked here).

Open Call Exhibition: For a broader perspective on open call exhibitions, consider participating in the 2nd annual community exhibition focused on art and photography, scheduled from March 15 to May 11, 2024. Registration is open from October 16, 2023, to December 31, 2023. The Lacombe Museum fosters an inclusive environment for artists and photographers, promoting collaboration among creators, curators, partner organizations, and audiences both locally and globally. It provides a diverse platform for lens-based practices, uniting the photographic community through innovative presentations at various venues in the downtown Lacombe area.

Community Showcase: If you seek inspiration, our Community Exhibition 2023 featured works by artists of all backgrounds. This exhibition highlighted the distinctiveness of each contributor, showcasing a range of techniques and skill levels and worked towards the sustainability of the community.

Join us in sharing your artistry with our community. Your work is an integral part of the creative tapestry we celebrate at Lacombe Museum.
