SUMMARY:Cloak Pin Blacksmith Workshop (August)
DESCRIPTION:In the August workshop participants will be making a cloak pin. Some previous experience with blacksmithing or metalworking is recommended for this project as fine work is required in the creation of the pin. \n \n  \nForge a connection with the past in our 1902 blacksmith shop! \nOur blacksmith workshop series is back for another year. Each workshop will give students hands-on experience working with our coal forge to complete their project. Students will learn how to work safely in a blacksmith shop and manipulate metal to achieve the shapes required for their project. \nParticipants in our blacksmith shop workshops must be 16 or older. All participants will be required to sign a safety waiver at the beginning of class. \nThough participants do not need to bring their own tools or safety equipment they are required to wear or bring the following: \n\nnatural fibre clothing (cotton\, wool\, linen – synthetic fibres can melt when close to the forge)\nwork boots – we do not require steel-toe boots but sturdy boots that will keep you safe against dropped items are a must\nLong hair should be tied back\ndo not wear flammable products like hairspray\noptional safety equipment: safety glasses\, ear plugs\, leather gloves\n\nIf you have any questions please get in touch at bookings@lacombemuseum.com or 403-782-3933
