Lacombe Through the Lens The Photographic Documentarians of Lacombeaims to not only name all of the men associated with the Lacombe Photo Studio\, but also to highlight photographers who have continued the legacy of Lacombe’s so-called “pioneer photographers” to today. Photographs displayed in the exhibit will show over 125 years of the development of Lacombe. \nFeatured photographers include: \n\nJ.A. DESCRIPTION:The Lacombe Museum is bringing back our Heritage Workshop Series! The heritage workshop series aims to arm the public with the information and resources required to critically think about heritage in their personal endeavors. \nArchives and Personal Research is aimed at genealogists\, amateur historians\, or anyone who has ever wondered “but how do I learn more?”. The presentation in this workshop will cover what archival material is housed where\, how to access archival information\, and general guidelines to follow when visiting an archival reading room. Materials housed in the Lacombe Museum Dr. Howard Fredeen Research Room and the Lacombe Museum Archival Collection will be discussed. \nThe resources discussed will be useful for those conducting family history research\, research about homesteads/land\, or local history research. \nParticipants are encouraged to bring a research query or roadblock to discuss within the workshop. \nThis workshop will be very similar to one that was provided in 2024. DESCRIPTION:Located in Lacombe County\, 19 kilometres east of Red Deer\, the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site is Alberta’s first ethylene production facility.Peter Lougheed’s decision in 1975 to transform the Alberta Gas Trunk Line\, a small prairie pipeline company\, into a leader in petrochemicals was the foundation that led to the subsequent development and production of the initial plant and subsequent developments near Joffre\, Alberta. \nCelebrate 50 years of growth and development at the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site in this exhibit that the Lacombe Museum has worked directly with NOVA staff to develop.
