DESCRIPTION:Located in Lacombe County\, 19 kilometres east of Red Deer\, the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site is Alberta’s first ethylene production facility.Peter Lougheed’s decision in 1975 to transform the Alberta Gas Trunk Line\, a small prairie pipeline company\, into a leader in petrochemicals was the foundation that led to the subsequent development and production of the initial plant and subsequent developments near Joffre\, Alberta. \nCelebrate 50 years of growth and development at the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site in this exhibit that the Lacombe Museum has worked directly with NOVA staff to develop.

SUMMARY:Heritage Walking Tours
DESCRIPTION:Join our tour guide at the Michener House Museum for a downtown walking tour! In the summer\, Saturday tours are offered on a drop-in\, by-donation basis. Registration is not required\, but it is appreciated. We encourage guests to call the museum or check our social media for updates concerning any weather-related cancellations. \nThe suggested minimum donation for walking tours is $5. \nTour routes consist of approximately 1km of walking and take 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Tour guides use an audio headset to ensure visitors can hear their narrative. \nThe Lacombe Museum currently offers the following Heritage Walking Tours: \n\nHistoric Downtown: Learn the stories behind the historic Edwardian buildings in Lacombe’s downtown core.\nHistoric Murals: Look into Lacombe’s past via murals based on archival photos from the Lacombe Museum collection.\nIntrigue on the Prairies: Hear stories of intrigue and scandal related to historical figures of Lacombe.\nHidden Histories: Dive into the histories of figures and groups in our community that have often been left out of the narrative.\nHeritage Houses: Learn more about the heritage houses in the oldest residential neighbourhoods in Lacombe.
