DESCRIPTION:Located in Lacombe County\, 19 kilometres east of Red Deer\, the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site is Alberta’s first ethylene production facility.Peter Lougheed’s decision in 1975 to transform the Alberta Gas Trunk Line\, a small prairie pipeline company\, into a leader in petrochemicals was the foundation that led to the subsequent development and production of the initial plant and subsequent developments near Joffre\, Alberta. \nCelebrate 50 years of growth and development at the NOVA Chemicals Joffre Site in this exhibit that the Lacombe Museum has worked directly with NOVA staff to develop.

The society and Executive Director\, Daniel Becker\, will review 2024 at the Lacombe Museums and look toward the goals of the L&DHS for the next year. All are welcome to attend. \nPlease ensure that your membership with the Lacombe and District Historical Society is up-to-date in order to receive any relevant documents prior to the AGM and to maintain your voting status for the AGM. Memberships can be renewed in person at the Flatiron Building Museum\, via credit card over the phone\, or under the membership page on our website. Check the current status of your membership via director@lacombemuseum.com \nPlease RSVP to the AGM via director@lacombemuseum.com. \nThe venue for the AGM will be confirmed closer to the date. The AGM may need to be moved to a larger venue in the event that more people RSVP than the Flatiron Building can accommodate.
