We have three exciting new roles available at the Lacombe Museums



Museum & Archives Assistant:
Job Title: Museum & Archives Assistant
Positions Available: 4
Proposed Start Date: May 15, 2020.
Schedule: Up to 7 hours per day, 5 days a week for a total of 35 hours per week.
Candidates must be available to work weekends, long weekends & some evenings, as scheduled.

Job Description: The Museum & Archives Assistant is a Costumed Historical Interpreter position. Their duties include facilitation of group and public tours of the museums in Lacombe and historical downtown, facilitating the delivery of educational programs, researching and writing about local history, creating and updating interpretative material, and assisting planning and coordinating community events at the museums.

Qualified Applicants will be a College or University student returning to school in the fall. Course of studies related to Education, History, Museum Studies, Travel and Tourism, Marketing, Library Sciences, or Fine Arts would be a definite asset. You will be motivated with excellent planning, research and time-management skills. Experience working with the public and demonstrated customer service skills will be an asset.
Must be willing to work weekends and some evenings.
Must supply recent Vulnerable Sector Checks.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification an asset.

Programming Coordinator:
Job Title: Programming Coordinator
Positions Available: 1
Proposed Start Date: May 15, 2020.
Schedule: Up to 7.5 hours per day, 4 days a week for a total of 30 hours per week.
Candidates must be available to work weekends, long weekends & some evenings, as scheduled.

Job Description: The Programming Coordinator assists the Lacombe & District Historical Society to deliver important cultural and tourism services and host special events during local Festivals and community celebrations at the Museums in Lacombe. Their duties include coordinating group and public tours of the museums in Lacombe, coordinating the delivery of educational programs, and assisting in the planning and coordinating of community events for Lacombe Days and Canada Day at the museums.

Qualified Applicants will be a College or University student returning to school in the fall. Course of studies related to Education, History, Museum Studies, Travel and Tourism, Marketing, Library Sciences, or Fine Arts would be a definite asset. Communications & Marketing:

Job Title: Communications & Marketing Coordinator
Proposed Start Date: May 15, 2020
Positions Available: 1
Schedule: Up to 7.5 hours per day, 4 days a week for a total of 30 hours per week.
Candidates must be available to work weekends, long weekends & some evenings, as scheduled.
The Communications & Marketing positions job tasks and responsibilities include:
• Public Programming/Event Planning
• Development of Newsletter for community, Society members and stakeholders
• Fundraising and member-drive event planning
• Researching and coordinating Lacombe and Central Alberta information for social media campaigns and virtual exhibit designs
• Coordinating with the delivery of special events hosted at the Museums
• Learning about Museums and Archives policies and procedures and working with artefacts and records in the collection
• Assist with tasks and projects at the Museum as needed; such as updating and creating new displays and interpretive materials and or programs.

Qualified Applicants will be a College or University student returning to school in the fall. Internships

Throughout the year we offer multiple exciting 7-10 week internships focusing on a range of topics from local heritage research, archival sciences and programming development through the Alberta Government and Volunteer Alberta. Upon completion, interns are given $1000 stipend through the Provincial Government for their time and effort.
