Join us for ever-changing activities that use our amazing collections and superb exhibitions as the starting point for fun family learning.
During our Off Season, join us on Saturdays when we welcome all ages and abilities to participate in our programs.
Work with our skilled staff and volunteers to learn skills for homesteaders, old timey games & work on crafts and projects with your family!
Share time with your family learning, creating and exploring new materials! The best part….your completed masterpieces are yours to take home and enjoy!
This is a wonderful opportunity for learning, creating and exploring new materials.
This program runs every Saturday from 1-3pm September - April.
SUMMER DROP-IN PROGRAMS
Over the summer months, check the activities listed below to see when you can churn your own butter & learn to spin wool, try your hand at traditional blacksmithing techniques in Alberta's oldest still running Blacksmith Shop or visit our Antique Photo Parlour!
Art in the Garden
Saturday 10 am to 12 pm
Enjoy a morning of painting, drawing, and creating in the garden at Michener House.
All art supplies are provided. This drop-in program is offered every Saturday from June to August.
Skills for Homesteaders
Thu & Friday 1 pm to 4 pm
Join us on weekdays in July and August for fun hands-on learning at the Blacksmith Shop Museum & the Michener House. Learn essential skills every homesteader needs to know:
· Knot Tying · Rope Making · Farrier Skills · Gold Panning
· Washing, Carding & Spinning Wool
· Local Plants & Gardening · Making Butter
